Walk-around inspection - How to perform and what to check
Walk around the scraper and check for obstructions, people and "Do Not Operate" tags.

During walk-around inspection it is important to:
- Check for loose bolts and structural damage.
- Check hydraulic (left side of machine behind cab).
- Mount right rear of machine. Always mount facing machine.
- Check water. Caution: Coolant may be under pressure-use sight glass.
- Check belts.
- Check transmission. Do not start with low level.
- Inspect final drives for leaks.
- Check oil - crankcase. Do not start with low level.
- Dismount rear of machine. Caution: Always dismount facing machine.
- Start the Engine, and dismount the machine to do complete walk-around inspection.
Do complete walk around inspection.
- Tires: Check for cuts and gauges
- Circle drive: Inspect for leaks.
- Blade and end bits: Inspect for wear damage, loose or missing parts.
- Blade linkage: Inspect for damage, loose or missing parts.
- Step and grab irons: Inspect for cleanliness and condition.
- Hydraulic system: Inspect for leaks, worn hoses, or damaged lines
- Pivot point: Inspect for dirt or debris buildup.
- Transmission and differential compartment: Inspect for leaks
- Transmission and differential compartment: Inspect for leaks.
- Engine compartment: Inspect for oil and fuel leaks.
- Cooling system: Inspect for leaks, worn hoses, and trash buildup.
- Check condition of cutting edges for excessive wear. If equipped with serrated edges check condition of bits and excessive wear and replace bits as necessary.
- Check lights.
